It is the first and only nationwide humane society in the People’s Republic of China. We are formed by those volunteers in educational, cultural circles and business communities who have the passion to protect animal rights and the ambition to promote spiritual civilization in humanism. This group is entrusted with the privilege to build affiliates and branches in the cause of protecting animals throughout China, and to promote international communication and cooperation in this regard. The officially approved business of CSAPA include but not limited to, Professional communication, international cooperation, professional exhibition, book and magazines edition and publishing, public education in its field, consultation service, scholastic appraisal, epidemic prevention, animal health care and business training.
CSAPA holds the idea of respecting and cherishing life, advocating spiritual civilization in Humanism. In practice, we focus on protecting small animals, maintaining their rights of existence and free of maltreatment, improving their life conditions. We aim to uphold and develop the traditional Chinese virtue in benevolence, with a understanding that it will in turn protect the dignity of our nation and to enhance the moral cultivation of our people. At the same time, CSAPA endeavors to both morally and scientifically weed out the ignorant and barbaric elements existing in the traditional cuisine culture and medicine. Moreover, CSAPA has been actively executing its idealism in reality by saving and providing home to thousands of abandoned or astray animals who would otherwise die in misery. All of our shelters are strictly non-killing.
Our past fifteen years’ tenure shows that, CSAPA has been continuously making various efforts in various rescue missions and demonstrated staggering vigor despite the tremendous adversity. In 2000, CSAPA has passed the challenging ratification of our government. In August, the leader of the Agricultural Department highly praised the CSAPA, and he said that it showed Chinese nation’s traditional virtues in mercy and cherishing life. Afterwards, the Treasury Department granted CSAPA the unique privilege of accepting donation nationwide and quite a number of celebrities have become part of our organization ever since. For instance, the famous writer lady Bingxin and the ex-minister of the Ministry of Culture Xia Yan were both once the honorary chairperson in our formative stage. They both wrote inscription for us and also solicit to entrepreneurs to financially support CSAPA. Mr. Zhao Puchu, the Buddhist leader, the vice president of the National Political Committee (China’s senate) and the famous calligraphist also wrote to encourage our staffs, and also personally donated RMB 1000. Undoubtedly, the above helped our work spirit greatly. On the other hand, many common people nationwide have also actively participated in our various works, and they are the foundation of our existence and continuous development. Moreover, many domestic and foreign medias have been giving us special support in helping us to promote educational and organizational work.
